The Argentina international came under scrutiny after questioning United's recruitment and directing criticism at director of football Jason Wilcox following Tuesday's 2-0 Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid.
Martinez subsequently apologised for the timing of his remarks after meeting with Carrick and club secretary Omar Berrada, although he stood by the substance of his comments.
Speaking ahead of the Premier League clash at Elland Road, Carrick confirmed the matter had been resolved and that the 28-year-old remained available for selection.
"He's released his statement and realised he made a mistake," Carrick said. "That's enough for us to move on with. From our point of view, the acknowledgement of what's been done is enough to move on."
The United boss also played down the significance of the incident, insisting the squad had continued to work positively despite the attention surrounding Martinez's comments.
"We've moved on from that. As a group we've moved on. It's really not a drama for the group," he said. "The squad have trained really well and they are in good spirits."
Former United players Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville were among those to criticise Martinez, with Rooney warning that his remarks could threaten the dressing room's unity. Carrick, however, maintained that outside commentary did not necessarily reflect the situation within the club.
United head into Sunday's encounter on a five-match winless run, increasing the pressure on Carrick as he looks to improve results.
Meanwhile, Martinez's longer-term future remains uncertain, with reports suggesting he sought a move to Atletico Madrid before the season got underway amid frustration over his contract situation. His current deal at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season.
For now, the defender remains in contention for the Leeds fixture as United attempt to turn their form around.
