Maresca happy with Man City progress after record-breaking win over Ipswich

Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca has expressed joy following the 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town in their Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

The result ensured head coach Maresca surpasses Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to become the first manager to win their first seven games in charge of a team in the Premier League.

Maresca joined City ahead of the current season after having parted ways with Chelsea halfway through the 2025/26 campaign and has won nine of his eleven matches in charge.

"First of all, I am very happy because it's a matter of winning games in this business," said Maresca at the post-match conference.

"We were able to win seven in a row and what made me very happy was day-by-day with the players, the way they are working and how I can see them improving.

"Today I thought we controlled the game, created chances and were good off the ball. We are doing well and I think that's the most important thing."

The result sees City bounce back from their UEFA Champions League midweek defeat to Paris Saint-Germain while restoring their six-point lead at the top of the table ahead of Arsenal's clash at Nottingham Forest.
