Marc Cucurella officially unveiled as Real Madrid player

Marc Cucurella has officially been unveiled as a Real Madrid player, with the Spain international saying he is excited to experience the Santiago Bernabeu from inside the club rather than as an opponent.

The left-back was presented at Real Madrid City on Monday alongside president Florentino Perez and honorary president Jose Martínez 'Pirri'. Cucurella also posed with the club's 15 European Cups during the ceremony.

There was no press conference, with Real Madrid continuing the presentation format used for several of their other European summer signings.

Cucurella, who joined from Chelsea in a 55 million euros transfer, made his competitive debut for Real Madrid on Saturday when they defeated Espanyol 2-1 away from home.

"Hello Madridistas, I'm very happy. It's a special day for me and my family, and I'm really looking forward to meeting you at the Bernabeu," Cucurella said.

The presentation also featured a video highlighting the defender's career, including his spells at Espanyol, Barcelona, Eibar, Getafe, Brighton and Chelsea. His success with Spain at the 2026 FIFA World Cup was also included.

Cucurella said wearing the Real Madrid shirt was a huge honour and made it clear that he wants to help the club add more silverware.

"It's an honour to wear the jersey of the best club in the world, considering everything it has won and everything it still has left to win," he said.

"Hopefully, this will be a great era in which we can win many trophies."

The Champions League is one of the trophies high on Cucurella's list. He admitted that Real Madrid's famous European nights at the Bernabeu have always impressed him, particularly the dramatic comebacks that have become a feature of the club's history.

Having previously experienced the atmosphere as an opponent, Cucurella can now look forward to playing those matches as a Real Madrid player.

His next opportunity to do so will come in La Liga, with Real Madrid hosting Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.
