Mamelodi Sundowns open talks for USA-based star Tsiki Ntsabeleng

SABC Sport understands that Mamelodi Sundowns have made a serious move to sign Major League Soccer midfielder Tsiki Ntsabeleng.

The Brazilians are believed to have proposed an initial loan deal for the South African-born star, currently on the books of FC Dallas, with the potential to make the switch permanent at a later stage.

Ntsabeleng, 27, came through the Stars of Africa academy under Farouk Khan and had stints in both the Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns development structures before moving to the USA as a teenager.

He joined Dallas two years ago from the US second tier and was reportedly tied to their roster until 2026 as of January.

Sources indicate Sundowns view Ntsabeleng as a versatile option across midfield roles, especially in light of captain Themba Zwane’s injury, which is set to sideline him for at least two months.

The former youth international has made over 90 appearances for Dallas and is understood to be open to a return home if the deal materialises.

Sundowns remain active in the market ahead of the Premier Soccer League transfer deadline on 22 September, with several players unsettled — including Khuliso Mudau, Lucas Ribeiro, Kutlwano Letlhaku, and Thapelo Maseko.

Coach Miguel Cardoso has publicly expressed a preference for working with a smaller squad but admitted some reinforcements are necessary.
