Mamelodi Sundowns held to goalless stalemate at home by Polokwane City

Mamelodi Sundowns remain unbeaten in the league but were held to a goalless stalemate at home by a determined Polokwane City outfit at Loftus.

It was second consecutive draw of the campaign for Masandawana to go with their 11 victories after 13 matches played that sees them comfortably sit six points clear at the top of the standings.

The defending champions however could have good reason to feel disappointed with the result after they had a goal initially given but then reversed with 20 minutes remaining.

Peter Shalulile produced a neat finish from a Themba Zwane pass and ran off with his teammates to celebrate.

The goal was awarded by referee Akhona Makalima but after a lengthy consultation with her assistant and fourth official it was ruled out for a foul in the build-up.

The decision drew a furious reaction from the Sundowns bench but over the course of the match and the balance of play a draw was probably a fair result.

The result leaves Polokwane ninth in the standings after their fifth stalemate in 16 games played this season.
