Mamelodi Sundowns forced to share the spoils against SuperSport in Tshwane derby

Mamelodi Sundowns extended their unbeaten run in the DStv Premiership but were held to a 1-1 draw against SuperSport United at Loftus on Tuesday.

The result sees Masandawana go 13 points clear at the top of the standings having now won 14 and drawn four of their 18 matches, an overall unbeaten run of 42 games stretching back from last season.

SuperSport climbed one place to third but only because of an inferior goal difference to Orlando Pirates as they are equal on 33 points from 20 matches.

Sundowns opened the scoring on the half-hour mark after a stunning long-range strike from Teboho Mokoena that left opposing goalkeeper Washington Arubi sprawling.

Gavin Hunt's charges were not in the least bit knocked out though and equalised just three minutes later when Lyle Lakay whipped a free-kick into the box and Bradley Grobler finished at the back-post.

The defending league champions had the better opportunities to in the second half with Thembinkosi Lorch going the closest but the forward was denied by Arubi.
