Malawi focused on tighter defense in WAFCON final against Cameroon

The debutants conceded seven goals in five games, while also scoring 12.

Speaking ahead of the final, Fazili says they are more than ready to take on the West African side.

"Through experience I've noticed that we concede goals which we are not supposed to. We have tried to do the homework so that this will not happen again. We have tried to remind the defenders that when you want to do this, you must do this and on occasions whereby I think you don't have or something to rectify that problem, you are supposed to do this and that,” Fazili said. 

“So we have discussed, we have tried to train them in those particular points where I think we should not concede any goals. So, everything is in order, everything is okay."

Malawi also made history by qualifying for their first ever FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Southern African side traveled with 26 players and the coach says he is happy that there are no injury concerns ahead of tonight’s important game.

The Scorchers have won four of their five games in open play in this tournament. 

Midfielder Rose Kadzere got a red card in their semi-final clash against Algeria, after featuring in every game in this WAFCON for Malawi.

However, Fazili believes he has a great replacement for her.

"I think it's not a frustration as such but we are going to miss her, she's one of our stars, one of our great players and I'm sure we are going to miss her but at the same time we have good options for her replacement,” the coach added.

“We will get someone I cannot mention here, she's going to take care of the position in the midfield and I think with her and other players I think everything is good. Yes we'll miss her but I think the performance  will be okay."
