Liverpool secure the signature of Wataru Endo from Stuttgart

Liverpool FC have finalized the acquisition of Wataru Endo, the seasoned captain of both Japan and Stuttgart.

This strategic move is set to fortify Jurgen Klopp's revamped midfield, injecting vitality into the heart of the squad.

Although Endo's name might not immediately resonate with every fan, Klopp assures that his arrival is a cause for genuine excitement.

"Wataru is a genuinely exceptional player," Klopp articulated in an interview with LFC Offside subsequent to the signing. "I'm aware of the football landscape and its dynamics, but take a closer look because he's truly exceptional. A veteran on the pitch, Endo has honed his skills as the captain of Stuttgart and Japan. His on-field performance is nothing short of remarkable, coupled with his prowess as a footballer and an outstanding attitude.

"Thus, I'm elated. He is a gifted footballer, rich in experience, and thrives on relentless effort. Parting ways with Stuttgart is undoubtedly difficult, yet considering his contract situation with just one year remaining, it's a commendable deal for all parties involved. It's a positive step for him, for the club, and for us," Klopp stated.

Klopp acknowledges that amidst the fervour for high-profile signings commanding hefty price tags, the acquisition of a seasoned player from a German team battling relegation on a modest fee might raise eyebrows. Nevertheless, he firmly affirms that Endo is a player he's had his sights on for quite some time, admiring his capabilities.

On paper, the attributes of this player suggest that, barring age, he fits impeccably into Liverpool's requirements for a defensive midfielder. With the departure of stalwarts like Fabinho and Jordan Henderson this summer, reintroducing experience into the equation is a strategic move.

"Had he not been 30, it might have been uncertain whether we could secure him," Klopp disclosed. "He's always been on my radar, although we generally don't recruit players from his age bracket. He's evidently in peak physical condition, and his addition promises to be immensely enjoyable. I'm confident he can make an immediate impact, which is exceptionally pleasing given the ongoing season.

"His prowess will be evident on the pitch, and I'm eagerly anticipating his integration. While we need to determine his rapidity of inclusion, physicality will not pose a challenge, I assure you. As for his position, it aligns with his role at Stuttgart, so the transition is seamless.

"Naturally, there might be nuances in our approach, and I hope he excels in winning challenges and orchestrating seamless passes from point A to B”qualities he will undoubtedly exhibit from day one. I'm well aware of the mechanisms of the football world, but let me reiterate, his skill set is exceptional, and I'm genuinely delighted with this signing. It's an immensely positive development," Klopp said.
