KZN Derby draw as Golden Arrows and Royal AM share points

In a tightly contested KwaZulu-Natal derby, Golden Arrows and Royal AM settled for a 1-1 draw at Mpumalanga Stadium on Saturday in their DStv Premiership encounter.

Golden Arrows made a notable change as Olufemi Kayode replaced the first-choice goalkeeper Sifiso Mlungwana. On the other side, Royal AM started with Motebang Sera, Shadrack Kobedi, and Mondli Mpoto in their line-up.

The deadlock was broken in the 14th minute when Royal AM's Zukile Mkhize inadvertently scored an own goal, giving Arrows the 1-0 lead.

However, Royal AM swiftly responded through substitute Khulekani Shezi, who equalized with a superbly placed shot five minutes into the second half to make it 1-1.

Both teams had opportunities to snatch the win in an intense battle, but lacked the clinical touch in front of goal. Arrows survived a late scare from Ruzaigh Gamildien's curling free-kick, which hit the side-netting.

Despite late efforts from both sides, neither could find the winner, leaving the points evenly split between the provincial rivals.

Sekhukhune maintain momentum with win over struggling Cape Town Spurs

High-flying Sekhukhune United continued their impressive season in the DStv Premiership with a 1-0 win over struggling Cape Town Spurs at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Babina Noko came into the game on a eight-match unbeaten streak in the PSL and would definitely have been targeting all three points against a Spurs side firmly rooted at the bottom of the table.

The winning goal came shortly after half-time courtesy of 18-year-old newcomer Asekho Tiwani, after the defender collected the assist from Jamie Webber and finished smartly past Spurs goalkeeper Zama Dlamini.

Spurs had their chances in the match, with Katleho Maphathe in particular spurning a golden opportunity early on, while they also had a late chance to snatch a share of the spoils, but Sekhukhune were the better team on the evening and deserved winners in the end.

Chippa United beat SuperSport to move into top eight

Chippa United pulled off an impressive result away from home as they secured a 2-0 victory over SuperSport United.

Matsatsantsa were left to rue their many missed opportunities at the end of the night as they more than tripled the visitors' shots at goal without finding the back of the net.

Meanwhile, the Chilli Boys were clinical, with Sinoxolo Kwayiba scoring the opener in the 33rd minute and Bienvenu Eva Nga capping off the win ten minutes from the final whistle - their only two shots on target.

The victory saw Chippa move into the top half of the standings, only three points below SuperSport in fifth.
