Kruger United confirms no technical team changes for Premiership football

Kruger United Sporting Director Elasto Kapowezha has confirmed that coach Abram Mongoya will remain at the helm next season, as they navigate the uncharted waters of the Betway Premiership.

Mongoya returned to the club in October last year, leading them from ninth position to the Motsepe Foundation Championship title in just their second season in the league, earning promotion with two matches to spare.

Speaking exclusively to SABC Sport, Kapowezha says they have full confidence in their entire technical team to do the job in the top league.

"The technical team led by Abram Mongoya would remain the same. We are intending to continue with the same technical team that really did us proud and that we have so much confidence in that they'll also do well in the Betway Premiership," Kapowezha said.

While the former Zimbabwean international acknowledged that the Betway Premiership is a different beast altogether compared to what they’ve become accustomed to, he believes that the way they’ve carried themselves this season shows that they are ready to meet the demands which await them.

"For some of us have had the honour to work in the Betway Premiership but this is a first for the club and the club has to respect, not too much but respect the PSL but it has to respect the league. It has to understand where it is right now and where it is going,” he added.

“It has to make sure that it puts structures in place for it to cater for the huge demands of playing in the premier division.

“However you might also argue and say for the club to be where it is to have gained promotion in a way you'd have to be thinking like a PSL division club.

“We are confident that already the groundwork and the foundation that has been laid for the last two seasons for the club also worked for us to make sure that we get into the Betway Premiership and not be  a one season wonder. So, very confident that the club has been thinking like a PSL outfit already."
