Kalvin Phillips draws admiring glances from Bayern Munich and Liverpool

Both Bayern Munich and Liverpool have displayed interest in acquiring the services of Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

Last summer, Phillips joined City from Leeds United for a transfer fee of £45million. However, over the course of the past year, he has been limited to just 21 appearances and less than 600 minutes of playtime.

Despite encountering challenges, the 27-year-old expressed his determination earlier this summer to remain with the club and compete for his place in the team. Nevertheless, this has not deterred various European teams from expressing interest in signing him.

Bayern Munich, the reigning German champions, are particularly keen on securing Phillips. Manager Thomas Tuchel, who was impressed by the England international during his tenure at Chelsea, is the driving force behind Bayern's interest.

Similarly, Liverpool have inquired about recruiting Phillips, as Jurgen Klopp aims to reinforce his midfield options. Liverpool missed out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, both of whom ended up at Chelsea.

The trajectory of Phillips' future might be linked to that of Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, whose situation at Bayern is uncertain.

Gravenberch has communicated his desire to move to the Premier League, prompting both Liverpool and Manchester United to include the 21-year-old on their lists of potential signings.
