JVW FC stalwart Nicole Irwin has confirmed that she will retire at the end of the current season.
The defender has been part of the core group that helped the Bedfordview side get promotion to the Hollywoodbets Super League in 2019.
The team also finished as runners up to Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies in the 2016 edition of the Sasol League National Championships and Irwin said, after 10 years with the club, its time to go.
My personal goal actually this year is to focus on my game (laughs) I keep saying this is my last season. So I think it will be just to finish as best as I can as an individual while aiding the team and begin to pass some of my experience to other younger girls, so yah the legacy carries on, and that's my personal goal said Irwin.
Irwin indicated that it is important that the team has started to incorporate young players into the team now.
After finishing fourth in their inaugural Super League season, the vice-captain hopes to finish higher.
"Naturally we always want to win, that is the goal for us. As a club we are very competitive club, the goal for us is Top-3 this year Irwin concluded.
The team currently sits second on the log after three rounds of matches.
