Julian Brandt linked with Lazio switch after Borussia Dortmund departure

Julian Brandt's departure from Borussia Dortmund has opened the door to fresh transfer speculation, with the German international reportedly offered to Lazio as he prepares for the next step in his career.

The 30-year-old leaves Dortmund after a significant spell at Signal Iduna Park, where he became a key creative force. Since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019 for around 25 million euros, Brandt made 307 appearances for the club, scoring 57 goals and registering 70 assists.

His versatility made him a consistent presence across multiple attacking roles.

Now a free agent after confirming his exit at the end of the month, Brandt is attracting interest through intermediaries. According to reports in Italy, his representatives have offered him to several clubs, including Lazio, as they explore options in Serie A.

While the player is said to be open to a move to Rome, Lazio's response has been cautious. The reported salary demand of between 2.5 and 3 million euros has been viewed as a sticking point, with the club reluctant to stretch their wage structure despite the potential value on offer.

From a tactical perspective, Brandt would bring flexibility to Lazio's attack. Primarily an attacking midfielder, he can also operate on either flank, particularly on the left side. Incoming manager Gennaro Gattuso is understood to be looking for cover for Mattia Zaccagni, but Brandt's profile suggests he would expect a more prominent role rather than a backup option.

However, despite the fit on paper, financial constraints remain the major obstacle.
