The Jomo Cosmos owner and head coach says, in as much as his former team still holds all the aces in this game, Chiefs are going to put up a serious fight.
Pirates thumped their arch-rivals 3-0 in the previous fixture in February but, at a sold-out FNB Stadium today, Sono expects a thrilling encounter.
"To be honest, it's very interesting. It's like in England, between Arsenal and Man City – even here is the same, but, again, it all depends on the attitude of the Pirates players on the day," said Sono.
"Because it's not going to be an easy game, and Chiefs are also playing for pride – I don't think there'll be points given there, I think it's going to be a hell of a fight.
"But, at the end of the day, I would love for Pirates to win because I'm a Pirate – I'm being honest, but it's not going to be easy."
With Pirates and Sundowns neck and neck in the Betway Premiership title race, Sono believes the championship will be decided in the last two matches of the season, expecting both teams to still drop points in the remaining games.
"I think there are about five games left, both teams will drop points on the way, for sure! Both teams will drop, we just don't know which one is going to drop more," he added.
"There will be points dropped somewhere or donated somewhere, for sure. The [title] will be decided in the last two games of the league, not now – the last two games will decide who's winning the league.
"Who's winning it? Pirates. I want Pirates, you heard me say I'm a Pirate. You want me to be a Pirate and say Sundowns?"
