The home side took advantage of their only shot on target when Junior Dion converted a header from a Philani Kumalo corner in the 30th minute to take a surprise lead against the Tshwane giants.
Arrows were content to allow the visitors to enjoy the ball possession whilst waiting to break on the counter or to force goalscoring opportunities from set-pieces.
New Sundowns midfield signing Nuno Santos was introduced for his debut at half-time as the defending league champions went all out to get a positive result from the match.
However, Manqoba Mngqithi's side were resolute in defence and managed to avoid allowing the Tshwane giants clear cut opportunities in the second half.
The KwaZulu-Natal based side continued with the counter attacking strategy for most of the second half with Sundowns dominating possession but failing to threaten the goalkeeper Andile Mbanjwa.
The result sees Mamelodi Sundowns remain in second position on the league table, one point behind Sekhukhune United who have played two matches less while Arrows jump from 12th to ninth position on the 2025/26 Betway Premiership table.
