Glasner demands Crystal Palace improvement despite Conference League win over Shakhtar

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has challenged his side improve following the 3-1 victory against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Europa Conference League semi-final first leg in Krakow on Thursday.

The Eagles put one foot in the final of the Europa League after an impressive performance against the Ukrainian giants and will be confident of advancing to the showdown in Germany on May 20.

However, head coach Glasner believes his side will have to perform even better in the return leg to ensure they make their first European cup final in the club's history.

âœI'm very happy and very pleased with the performance," said Glasner after the match.

"We could see how good Shakhtar are individually, with so many quick players, and it was the plan: we don't want to give them space, because when we get exposed it's so difficult to defend against them.

"It was a huge impact from the bench, so overall we are very pleased with the performance, but it's just the first step. We will analyse this game, because I believe we have to perform even better at home to go to Leipzig to the final."

Palace will turn their attention to Sunday's Premier League tie away at Bournemouth before returning to host Shakhtar at Selhurst Park next Thursday.
