Folz welcomes praise from PSL coaches
AmaZulu head coach Romain Folz has welcomed the respect and acknowledgment of his good work from fellow PSL coaches, including Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqthi.
The French-born coach, who is in his second PSL job in only four months since arriving on the scene at Marumo Gallants at the beginning of this season, has won hearts in South African football through the well-structured play of his teams.
Speaking after his first game with Usuthu, where they were held to a one-all draw by Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium last Friday, Folz responded to the praise he has been receiving in local coaching circles.
"In the first place, yes, my stay in South Africa has been quite eventful, I would say, so far. I'm very thankful to Gallants for giving me the opportunity in the first place, and there are no hard feelings whatsoever towards anyone, to be honest," said Folz.
"Why do I happen to be here now, coach of AmaZulu, and why do I receive praise from all the coaches? I can only tell you that I'm doing my job the best [way] I can. If people see good things in me - great, I can only thank them.
"If people think I'm not that good, I take their opinion and I try to improve. But it's always good to hear - I heard what Coach Manqoba, for example, said a few weeks ago, and I can only thank him for that.
"You always aim to get better and try to learn from everyone. I'm someone who always thinks he can learn from everyone, so it's always good to hear [compliments]."
