Enzo Maresca: Super Eagles star Wilfred Ndidi could be out for months

Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi could be sidelined for three months due to a recent injury.

Despite being a pivotal figure in Leicester City's campaign this season, Ndidi's run of 21 appearances in the Championship will be interrupted following the unfortunate injury.

The 27-year-old Super Eagles midfielder, who has notched up two goals and contributed five assists, was initially part of Nigeria's squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations but had to withdraw due to the injury setback.

With Leicester City gearing up to face Millwall in the FA Cup on Saturday, Maresca provided an update on Ndidi's condition. The Italian tactician disclosed that he sustained a muscle injury, requiring a three-month recovery period.

"Probably for Wilf, it will be a long time," Maresca said per Leicester City's website.

"It could be three months. It looks like a muscular problem, but an important one, so we will see in the next hours but the situation for Wilf is probably the clearest one."

This news is undoubtedly a blow for both Leicester City and Ndidi, as they navigate the challenges of the season without one of their key midfielders.
