Endrick explains Lyon loan move from Real Madrid

The Brazilian teenager said the decision was driven by his need for regular minutes, with Lyon holding no option to buy the forward, who joined Real Madrid in a deal worth around sixty million euros.

Endrick had made just three senior appearances this season under Xabi Alonso and found opportunities limited, with Gonzalo Garcia preferred in attacking roles. Speaking clearly and calmly, Endrick explained why he felt the time was right to leave Madrid temporarily.

"I wanted to leave Real Madrid to play," Endrick said. "When Lyon contacted me, I accepted immediately. I'm very happy. I'm here to help the team."

He stressed that his focus had remained professional right until the move was confirmed. "When I found out I was coming, I continued working with my team, Real Madrid. The players asked me every day if I was leaving or not. I still keep in touch with them, but the most important thing is that I'm here now."

Endrick also revealed the influence of Carlo Ancelotti, who has been Brazil's manager and previously coached him at Madrid. With the World Cup approaching, Endrick admitted Ancelotti's advice played a key role.

"I spoke with Carlo Ancelotti. He gave me instructions and told me what I could do to improve," he said. "He told me, 'Go, play, improve your football and be happy.' That meant a lot to me."

Endrick was keen to play down expectations in Lyon. "I'm not here to change the team," he added. "I just want to contribute and be at the coach's disposal."

Reports of a contractual clause forcing Lyon to play Endrick or face a financial penalty were dismissed by the club, with general manager Michale Gerlinger confirming no such condition exists.
