DStv Premiership: Second-half surge sees AmaZulu draw with Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns were held to a 2-2 draw by a stubborn AmaZulu outfit in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday night.

Sundowns lost control of the game in the second half, allowing Usuthu to earn a valuable point in a match of two halves that showcased the latter's fighting spirit.

Masandawana took their fifth guard of honor of the season and hoped it would inspire them after just one win in their last four games since winning the PSL title.

Bongani Zungu scored for Sundowns on 25 minutes after they dominated play from the start.

The visitors missed chances for another goal before half-time, including a wild finish from Shalilule.

In the second half, AmaZulu came out firing and quickly exchanged goals with Sundowns.

Shalilule scored his 12th league goal of the season in the 58th minute, but Usuthu got one back five minutes later.

By the 78th minute, Sundowns had made all five substitutions and looked disjointed. Dion exploited space in midfield to score from 20 yards and tie the game.

Sundowns must win both remaining PSL matches to beat the current 71-point record by a single point, while AmaZulu moved up to 11th in the standings with the point earned against the champions.
