David Raum remains committed to RB Leipzig until 2027

The left-back has confirmed his intention to stay at Leipzig for another season, saying he will "definitely play one more year at RB Leipzig".

His existing contract is due to expire in 2027, meaning there is still uncertainty over whether he will continue with the Bundesliga side beyond that point.

New Leipzig head coach Martin Demichelis has also confirmed that Raum will retain the captaincy for the upcoming season. Demichelis told Sky Germany that the Germany international would continue to lead the team.

"It's really still very, very quiet. Also because I haven't received another offer yet, to be completely honest," Raum said.

"I wanted to earn another year in the Champions League, and I'm enjoying that now. Everything else remains to be seen.

"Right now, I'm simply focusing on this year, which is very important to me."

Raum arrived at Leipzig after joining from TSG Hoffenheim as a free agent in 2021. He had established himself as an attack-minded full-back during his spell at Hoffenheim and was rewarded with inclusion in the 2021-22 Bundesliga Team of the Season.

The 2026-27 season will therefore see Raum continue in a leadership role under Demichelis, but decisions regarding his future beyond the remaining period of his contract are still unresolved.
