Daniel Cardoso breaks silence on Sekhukhune United exit confusion

Confusion surrounded the defender's future after the club announced his departure in early July, only to confirm a new contract a week later. 

Speaking at the launch of this season's MTN8, Cardoso revealed he was equally surprised by the sequence of events. 

"It was just a bit of miscommunication because I don't know how people got the idea that I was leaving. I was always committed to the club. A few months ago they made a choice, and I'm happy to be here. I think it was all just nonsense in the media."

The centreback believes there is also renewed energy at the club following the arrival of former Kaizer Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze.

"Coach Cedric has come in and he has taken the throne, although he did miss the beginning of our pre-season. I think we've adapted well and I think we still have a lot of adapting to do with this new philosophy."

Sekhukhune are away to AmaZulu in the quarterfinals of the cup and Cardoso insists they will not take them lightly. 

"AmaZulu did well last season when they played with energy and had a lot of youngsters running up and down, and I think it's going to be the same this season under Arthur Zwane. I'm hoping for an end-to-end game on Sunday."
