Como boss Cesc Fabregas dreams of signing Barcelona's Eric Garcia

Cesc Fabregas has publicly expressed interest in signing Eric Garcia for his Italian side Como, but Barcelona remain intent on keeping the versatile defender.

The 24-year-old Spaniard, currently enjoying a resurgence at Camp Nou, has become a trusted figure under new head coach Hansi Flick.

Garcia, who spent last season on loan at Girona, is known for his commitment and adaptability - qualities that have earned him valuable minutes this campaign.

Flick has made it clear that Garcia is part of his plans, describing him as a "valuable asset" and encouraging him to stay amid growing external interest.

The German manager's stance has paid off. Garcia is being effectively utilised across the back line, and his consistency has helped solidify his place in the team.

Flick's unwillingness to let him go suggests the club sees the former Manchester City man as an important piece in their rebuild.

Fabregas, now managing in Serie B, confirmed Como's admiration for Garcia, seeing him as a dependable option who could bring leadership and flexibility to his squad.

"I confirm our interest in Eric Garcia from Barcelona. I like him a lot - he's versatile, a leader, and important for the team. But he's staying at Barcelona."

However, with Barcelona benefitting from his performances and Flick showing continued faith, a move appears unlikely in the short term.

While interest from abroad underscores Garcia's rising stock, his immediate future looks set in Catalonia.
