Chippa United still waiting on Justice Figuareido

SABC Sport has learnt Chippa United coach Sinethemba Badela will need to wait a little longer before striker Justice Figuareido becomes available for selection.

The Chilli Boys are believed to have secured the eSwatini international from Richards Bay, but the two clubs have yet to finalise the transfer agreement.

While Chippa announced last month that Figuareido had signed a two-year deal, the move is still not fully completed and registered with the Premier Soccer League.

Speaking after their impressive 1-1 draw against reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the league opener at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Badela reiterated that Figuareido is central to his plans for the 2025/26 season.

However, the striker will once again be absent when Chippa visit Durban City tonight, raising questions about how long the delay may persist.

SABC Sport understands Figuareido has travelled to eSwatini to finalise personal paperwork and, upon his return, will still need to apply for a work permit as a foreign player in the PSL, where clubs are limited to five non-local signings.

Last season, the 25-year-old forward featured in 22 matches for The Natal Rich Boyz, contributing two goals and two assists as they finished in the top eight.

Meanwhile, Richards Bay have since revamped their attack, after also selling top scorer Yanele Mbuthuma to Orlando Pirates.
