Chilled, confident and experienced- Ronwen Williams on Hugo Broos

Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams has described the senior men’s national football team head coach Hugo Broos as a very chilled coach, who knows what he is doing and is fully understood by the players.

Speaking during a media breakfast organized by Bafana sponsors 10bet in Johannesburg yesterday, Williams says Broos is a straightforward person as he had been seen and heard during his press conferences.

Under Broos, Bafana has already qualified for the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Ivory Coast next year. Williams says the AFCON 2015 winning coach with Cameroon, also has experience in major competitions.

"The guy is so relaxed, he's so chilled. In Camp, the vibe, the spirit is so high and he's straightforward. So, everyone knows the way things must be done in camp. He puts down the boundaries and that's how it is and he doesn't compromise," Williams said.

"Like Percy [Tau] said, we can see all his demands are paying off. Well, sometimes as players we always wanna do things our own way but now we can see he understands international football and that's the main thing. He understands how to qualify for AFCON.

How to win AFCON and he's given us the platform and he showed us, if you do this and that, it's possible. He's so relaxed and he makes everyone calm.

All the new guys, he doesn’t call you in the office and keeps you for 10 minutes and tells you all these things. No, he calls you there, he says 'You are here for a reason, I like what I see, just come with that same spirit in the team and you will play."
