Chelsea hit Bournemouth for five as Jordan Henderson bags brace

Chelsea bounced back from their defeat before the international break with a convincing 5-1 Premier League victory over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge, as Jordan Henderson scored his first goals for the club.

Henderson opened the scoring after just 64 seconds, curling a first-time shot into the net after Cole Palmer carried the ball forward and picked him out with a well-timed pass.

Chelsea doubled their advantage moments later when Morgan Rogers collected the ball inside the penalty area and bent his effort beyond former Blues goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, with a deflection off Antonio Silva helping it into the net.

Bournemouth struggled to respond, although Rayan came close to reducing the deficit before half-time. However, Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez reacted quickly to deny the forward and preserve his side's two-goal lead.

Chelsea struck again shortly after the restart. Pedro Neto beat Silva before cutting the ball back for Joao Pedro, who finished emphatically into the roof of the net.

Bournemouth briefly threatened a comeback when Evanilson diverted the ball into the net after Caicedo's attempted clearance, ending his 16-match wait for a Premier League goal.

However, Chelsea soon restored their three-goal advantage. Joao Pedro timed his run perfectly to meet Pep Chavarria's driven pass and score his second of the afternoon with a first-time finish.

Henderson then completed the scoring with a superb direct free-kick, claiming his second goal of the match and putting the result beyond doubt.

The victory ended Chelsea's run of three Premier League matches without a win following their 3-0 defeat by Brentford before the international break. They also extended their unbeaten home run in competitive matches to five games, with four wins and one draw.

Chelsea climbed to fifth place in the table, while Bournemouth remained 17th as their search for a first league victory under manager Marco Rose continued. The Cherries have now gone six Premier League matches without a win, recording three draws and three defeats.

Bournemouth will look to respond when they host Sturm Graz in their first-ever European home fixture, while Chelsea will aim to build on an emphatic performance that delivered a timely boost.
