Chelsea confirm signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United

Chelsea have completed the signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United, with the Argentina international putting pen to paper on a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge that runs until 2032.

The 21-year-old winger moves to west London after making 144 senior appearances for United, scoring 26 goals across all competitions.

Garnacho turned down offers from other clubs, as he reportedly wanted to go to Chelsea.

He had been told at the end of last season that he was free to leave United and was left out of Ruben Amorim's first-team training during pre-season, making last season's UEFA Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao his final appearance for the club.

A graduate of Atletico Madrid's academy before joining the Red Devils in 2020, Garnacho made his senior debut against the Blues at Old Trafford in April 2022 and went on to lift the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

Garnacho has featured in 93 Premier League matches and scored 16 times, including a spectacular bicycle kick against Everton that won the 2024 FIFA Puskas Award.

Speaking after sealing his move, Garnacho said: "It's an incredible moment for my family and I to join this great club. I can't wait to get started.

"I watched the Club World Cup and to join the world champions is special – we're the best team in the world! It's amazing to be here and I'm very happy."

Manchester United thanked Garnacho for his contributions and wished him well, while Chelsea supporters can now look forward to seeing one of South America's brightest prospects in blue.
