Champions Sundowns hit back to earn a point against Golden Arrows

Champions Mamelodi Sundowns were held to a 1-1 draw by Golden Arrows in their league clash played at the Princess Magogo stadium on Wednesday.

Ryan Moon gave the hosts the lead in the first half before substitute Sipho Mbule rescued a point for Masandawana.

Sundowns were dealt a blow early in the contest when midfielder Bongani Zungu, only just back from injury, was forced off the field following a clash of heads.

Arrows took the lead minutes after the lengthy stoppage when Divine Lunga's cross from the left-hand side found Moon who was quick to pounce and scored his fourth goal of the season.

Sundowns created few opportunities in the first half as the home defence nullified every attacking threat.

The champions though made a much bigger impact after the interval as Cassius Mailula and Abubaker Nassir squandered opportunities.

The pressure eventually paid off in the 73rd minute when Marcelo Allende swung in a corner kick and Mbule headed into the back of the net.

Siyabonga Mabena was almost the hero for the Tshwane club in the dying minutes but the youngster hit the cross-bar with his effort.
