Cadiz sign Maxi Gomez on season-long loan from Trabzonspor

Cádiz Club de Fútbol have signed Maxi Gómez on loan until the end of the season from Trabzonspor.

The Uruguayan striker came up through the ranks at Defensor Sporting, before making the leap to Europe with Celta Vigo in 2017 and joining Valencia from 2019 to 2022. He is a full international for his country.

The player has already undergone a medical and will start training this Wednesday, after which he will be presented. The deal includes an option to buy.

Juanjo Lorenzo, coordinator of the sports management, took the baton of the presentation. "We welcome a new player to our club, known to everyone in Spain. He comes on loan with an option to buy, hopefully we will all be satisfied at the end of the season and we can extend it. It's a signing we've been working on for some time".

Maxi Gómez then took the floor to talk about his feelings on arrival. "I'm very grateful to the president, the sporting management and all the club's staff. I'm really looking forward to Saturday and being able to play with my new teammates. I'm really looking forward to coming to this club".

First hours with his new teammates. "They made me feel like one of the group. I have seen a very familiar group, very close. I've felt very supported on my arrival. I'm really looking forward to playing, doing my best for my teammates and for the fans, who I know are incredible".

Eager to learn. "My objective is, first of all, to join the group, to be close to my team-mates, to learn from the coaching staff. You're young, there are other veterans who have experience and I try to listen to other players as well as the coaching staff. I like to learn from the older players and then try to do things well for the group, which is the most important thing.

A word for the Cadiz club. "It's a great club, I've played for many LALIGA teams and when I've come to play in Cádiz it's difficult to win. It is a team that competes very well, the group is very united and that is reflected on the court. They fight for every ball like the last one and that's the beauty of coming here. I've heard very good things about Cádiz and I'm very happy to be here".
