Borussia Dortmund set to sign of Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich

Borussia Dortmund are said to be on the brink of finalizing the acquisition of midfielder Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich.

Sky Sports Germany reports that both clubs have agreed on a deal worth approximately ‚¬19 million, inclusive of bonuses.

The Austrian international is slated to undergo medical examinations before joining the BVB squad for their forthcoming US Tour.

In recent days, reports have heavily linked Dortmund with their pursuit of Sabitzer as a summer transfer target.

While Bild previously suggested that the 29-year-old had expressed interest in joining an English Premier League team after a loan stint at Manchester United in the last season, the Black and Yellows appear to have secured his signature with an agreement already in place with Bayern.

Having joined Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2021, Sabitzer failed to make the desired impact, prompting the club's decision to sell him this summer. Now, he is poised to join their title rivals. With 185 Bundesliga appearances under his belt, Sabitzer brings experience to Dortmund's midfield.

Should the transfer materialize, Sabitzer will be the second midfield signing for Dortmund this summer, following the arrival of Felix Nmecha from VfL Wolfsburg in early July.

Coach Sebastian Kehl's main objective in this transfer window was to bolster the midfield following the departures of Mahmoud Dahoud, Jude Bellingham, and Raphael Guerreiro
