Borussia Dortmund's key players' fitness in question ahead of German Clasico clash

Borussia Dortmund's key players' fitness in question ahead of German Clasico clash

The international break is drawing to a close, and at Borussia Dortmund, the focus has shifted to the German Clasico on Saturday evening against FC Bayern Munich.

In a battle with RB Leipzig for the fourth spot and secure qualification for next year's Champions League, BVB shouldn't necessarily drop points.

Whether Gregor Kobel will guard Dortmund's goal at the Allianz Arena is still uncertain. Although the goalkeeper, who missed the last international break due to muscular problems in the adductor area and returned early from the Swiss national team, was back on the training pitch with his teammates for the first time.

However, observers searched for Kobel in vain on Wednesday. Not because the old problems had resurfaced, but because according to the "Ruhr Nachrichten," the 26-year-old has caught a mild cold.

Nevertheless, Kobel is expected to train again on Thursday, which would likely give the green light for his appearance in Munich.

On the other hand, Ramy Bensebaini's return is expected to be less immediate. The Algerian had to be substituted off after just 19 minutes due to knee problems during his national team's 3-2 victory against Bolivia in a friendly on Friday.

He then missed the second international match against South Africa (3-3) on Tuesday entirely. Details of the 28-year-old's injury are not yet known, making it difficult to predict the expected duration of his absence reliably.
