Borussia Dortmund display gives Thapelo Morena hope against Fluminense

Mamelodi Sundowns utility player Thapelo Morena is upbeat ahead of their final Group F clash against Fluminense at the FIFA Club World Cup on Wednesday.

The Betway Premiership champions are one of the most talked about teams at the tournament following their display in a pulsating 4-3 defeat to the German giants at the TQL Stadium on Saturday.

But Downs now need to beat Fluminense if they are to progress into the knockout stages – something Morena believes they can pull off, if they iron out their errors.

"I think we're going to give our all [against Fluminense] and try to convert the chances we create – some of us players watched their games, and to be honest, we go each game as it comes so now our focus changes to them," said Morena.

"We just need to review our games against Dortmund and fix what we need to fix for the next game."

The Brazilians edged South Korea’s Ulsan 1-0 in their opening fixture and were clearly oozing with confidence when they took on Dortmund, with Morena aware the Fluminense clash is now decisive.

"I think it's something that we strive on and we're going to do very well – we're going to give our best, especially in this [game] because it's the game that will determine everything for us," he added.

"Most of all, when you come to a tournament like this, your first game is very crucial and your second game is where you get stable.

"But, to be honest, with us, it's what we had to give from the start whistle because we knew the quality we were playing against – any chance they got they were going to bury."
