Bayern star Harry Kane accepts Ballon d'Or won't change haters' opinion of him

Ballon d'Or winner Harry Kane insists he has little interest in winning over his English critics, believing those who understand football have always recognised his abilities.

The Bayern Munich striker was asked whether he felt unfairly judged in England during a press conference ahead of his side's clash against Atlético Madrid.

However, the 33-year-old was reluctant to suggest he had received widespread unfair treatment, pointing out that plenty of people had respected his contributions throughout his career.

Kane acknowledged that social media and football supporters naturally bring criticism, while his lack of major team honours for much of his career may have influenced some opinions.

The England international endured similar scepticism early in his Tottenham Hotspur career, having spent three loan spells away before breaking into the first team and replacing expensive signing Roberto Soldado.

Since then, he has won multiple trophies at Bayern and claimed the Ballon d'Or.

"I'm not too sure, I think there's still a lot of people who respected me and appreciated me," said Kane, as quoted by iMiaSanMia on X.

"I think the people who know football, who understand football, have always been a fan of mine and the way I play and the way I approach the game.

"Of course, nowadays with social media and fans, you're always going to get stick from a certain majority. You know, when obviously I didn't win a team trophy for a long part of my career, and some people use that against me.

"But like I said, I think the people who really understand football were always understanding of my game and, as I've come here to Bayern Munich, they appreciate it even more."
