Bayer Leverkusen's rising star Jeremie Frimpong attracts Bayern Munich's interest

Jeremie Frimpong's performance in defence on Saturday not only showcased Bayer Leverkusen's prowess but also captured the attention of Bayern Munich's scouting team.

Leverkusen's 2-1 victory against Hoffenheim edged them closer to their first-ever Bundesliga title, while Bayern's stumble against Borussia Dortmund marked a turning point in the title race.

With Leverkusen dominating the league, Bayern Munich are eyeing Frimpong as a key addition to their squad for the upcoming season.

Previously, it was rumoured that Bayern aimed for a double swoop, targeting both Frimpong and coach Xabi Alonso. However, Alonso has reaffirmed his commitment to Leverkusen, leaving Frimpong as the sole focus of Bayern's transfer plans.

In an interview with Sky Germany, Frimpong remained diplomatic about his future, stating, "I just want to win a title. I'm concentrating on this season because I feel like we can do something big in Leverkusen."

While Frimpong's current contract ties him to Leverkusen until 2028, a release clause could see him depart this summer for a fee between ‚¬40 million and ‚¬45 million.

However, his potential move to Bayern hinges on the club's managerial situation and tactical considerations. Given Frimpong's attacking prowess, questions arise about his compatibility with a more conservative defensive setup, leaving his future open for speculation.
