Bayer Leverkusen may struggle to hold on to rising star Florian Wirtz

Bayer Leverkusen talent Florian Wirtz is drawing admiring glances from a number of top European clubs, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Leverkusen have been in scintillating form in the Bundesliga this season, winning eight games and drawing one to take top spot after nine fixtures.

Much of their success can be credited to Wirtz, who has scored five goals and provided eight assists as an attacking midfielder.

The 20-year-old's impressive performances have attracted interest from a number of clubs, but he is unlikely to move until the end of the current campaign.

"Bayern Sporting Director Christoph Freund has been clear in denying any talk, at the moment there's nothing concrete, just interest," Romano told Caught Offside.

"But there's lot of interest from Premier League, La Liga and Bundesliga. Nothing will be decided now or in January; it's one to watch after the Euros, so long time to go."

The German, who has made 12 international appearances, still has four years left on his current contract.
