Barcelona cruise in comeback Champions League victory over Galatasaray

Barcelona rallied back from a goal down to hammer Galatasaray 4-1 in the UEFA Champions League encounter at Rams Park, Istanbul on Tuesday evening.

The home side had a slow start to the match with Barcelona dictating terms and controlling possession with Anthony Gordon and Joao Cancelo testing goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakır before Dani Olmo headed wide from a Lamine Yamal cross.

Galatasaray took a surprise lead in the 28th minute following a counter attacking move that saw Portuguese forward Rafael Leao feed Aleksey Batrakov with an accurate pull back for a deflected finish.

The Turkish side thought they had doubled their lead after a Victor Osimhen header from a corner was deflected into the net, but VAR ruled out the effort for offside.

Barca responded ten minutes later with Joao Cancelo slotting in a neat finish inside the box after Olmo had picked him out with a delicate short pass just before half time.

The Catalans came out firing for the second half, with Gordon missing a relatively easy chance immediately after the restart but Fermin Lopez put his side in front in the 50th minute with a fine headed finish from a Yamal cross.

Three minutes later Gordon squeezed in a goal following an impressive run to the byline from Yamal before picking out the Englishman to extend their lead to 3-1.

German substitute Karim Adeyemi completed the scoring for Barcelona with a well taken volley inside the box to hand his side a 4-1 victory.

"We are very happy with the result. We played well in the first half," said Barca manager Hansi Flick after the match.

"They had one chance and scored, but we managed to come back and that was very important. In the Champions League, when we played well, in some situations we didn't make good decisions in the final third, and thatâ™s something we have to improve.

"But today, in this stadium, with this atmosphere, it wasn't easy, but I'm very happy. We gave the ball away in the final third, but we needed to improve. In the second half, we dominated the game."

The defending La Liga champions have scored a whopping nine goals from their opening two UEFA Champions League fixtures, conceding twice.
