Banyana Banyana have been crowned Women's Africa Cup of Nations champions for the first time in their history after beating Morocco 2-1 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
Hilda Magaia bagged a second-half brace to seal victory for the South Africans, who completed the 2022 WAFCON undefeated after seeing off the likes of Nigeria, Tunisia and Zambia en route the final.
Desiree Ellis' side made history in what was the women's senior national team's sixth final, after finishing runners-up on five previous occasions, shortly after the coach bagged a record third successive CAF Coach of the Year.
The Super Falcons, who have won the tournament on nine previous occasions, ended in fourth after falling to the Atlas Lionesses in the semi-finals as the hosts believed they could go all the way in their first appearance in the final.
It was not the only trophy won by South Africa though, as they bagged the WAFCON Fair Play and CAF Women's National Team of the Year awards, while Andile Dlamini was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament.
The Lionesses' captain Ghizlane Chebbak was named Player of the Tournament.
Banyana, joined by Nigeria, Zambia and Morocco, will also appear at their second successive FIFA World Cup in Australi and New Zealand next year.
