20th June 2025
This was announced during the launch of Bafana sponsors Honor’s new 400 and 400 Pro phones in Kyalami last night.
The travelling packagers are set to start with Bafana’s crunch World Cup qualifier against their arch-rivals, Nigeria, in Bloemfontein in September as the South African Football Association (SAFA) Commercial and Marketing Manager Errol Madlala explains.
“What’s exciting for us is that there are two ways which you can watch Bafana Bafana and get behind the scenes experience because Honor is our partner, anyone that buys the 400 or the 400 Pro that was launched today, they get a chance to win a money can’t buy experience where they are all flown to Johannesburg and then we’ll bus to Mangaung to join Isiwelele to watch Bafana play against our nemesis Nigeria in the World Cup Qualifiers,” Madlala said.
“What more can we expect from a footballing experience that but it doesn’t end there. The further competition then, the second winners they go to Morocco to join us when we try to improve on our bronze medal and win the cup.
“We are quite excited about that. That our partners are going with us to give a money can’t buy experience to users who are football fans as well as their customers which helps their business because what’s important for us as SAFA is that you must understand what our partners are looking for in the market.
“Honor wanted to close the gap with a market leader, now they want to be number one in South Africa. We are the perfect partner for them to take them there.”
After Bafana’s heroics in Côte D’Ivoire, where they returned with a bronze medal for the first time in 24 years last year, the team's stock has risen.
They have seen most of their competitive matches played in front of sold-out crowds.
Madlala says Hugo Broos’ team has made their job easier.
“It’s very good, it’s a very big year 2025, the technical department have done absolutely amazing stuff on the field of play. Hugo Broos and his charges have done an amazing job so when we go to play against Nigeria in the World Cup Qualifiers, we are taking Honor 400 and 400 Pro winners with us to Mangaung so that they can get behind the scenes experience with Bafana Bafana,” he added.
“Further to that, we are gonna take them to Morocco to join us in Marrakech and Agadir to watch us play and try and win this tournament after a long time. So, we are quite excited about phase one and phase two but more exciting is phase three and four, watch the space."
