Bafana Bafana failed to correct mistakes - Morena Ramoreboli

Bafana Bafana coach Morena Ramoreboli says their failure to learn from previous errors cost them against Zambia as they were denied a place in the final of the COSAFA Cup on Sunday.

Bafana took the lead through striker Tshegofatso Mabasa scoring his third goal of the competition, but it was soon cancelled out by Golden Mashata and Albert Kangwanda in the second half as Zambia eliminated the hosts.

South Africa will now face Malawi in the third-place play-off, while Chipolopolo will be out to defend their title against Lesotho in the final on Sunday.

Ramoreboli went in detail as to how they suffered the 2-1 loss.

"Ja, I think we did the same mistake in the final third as we were doing in our defensive third to concede the first goal, and also exposing the space in front of the centre-backs," said Ramoreboli.

"We conceded from a throw-in, which I think we could have dealt with better, but these are goals that remind you of some of the mistakes that maybe during the tournament we were making.

"So, we could not maybe learn more from the mistakes we made because the goals we conceded we similar to the ones we conceded [before] against eSwatini, in that we failed to clear the ball despite having numbers around the ball."
