Back to back defeats not an option at Sundowns – Aubrey Modiba

The Brazilians suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Golden Arrows in the first leg of their MTN8 semifinal and will travel to the King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday needing to overturn the deficit.

For now, however, Sundowns’ focus is on bouncing back against AmaZulu, with Modiba acknowledging that Usuthu will provide another stern test as the African champions look to return to winning ways.

"We have shifted our focus to this league game, because it's never easy to play against AmaZulu. We will take the positives from the defeat against Arrows and use it in the league. At Sundowns we always try not to lose consecutive games and we will bounce back."

Sundowns recently set a record of 31 unbeaten league matches at home and Modiba says they are motivated to maintain that. 

Modiba added that they expect AmaZulu to have a bounce in their step having not featured over the weekend but that is not an excuse for Sundowns.

"They are a well rested team, but that is no excuse for us. We know they have dangerous and speedy players, and they know exactly how they want to play. We also have dangerous players so it's going to be a great game to watch."
