Arthur Sales calls for Mamelodi Sundowns to step it up a notch

Mamelodi Sundowns forward Arthur Sales admits, despite a decent start to the season, The Brazilians need to raise their game.

The reigning Betway Premiership champions travel to Seshego Stadium tonight to face Magesi FC, aiming to keep pace with early frontrunners Sekhukhune United and Kaizer Chiefs, who have nine points from three matches.

Sundowns have collected a win and a draw in their opening two fixtures, but Sales believes that’s not enough if they are to set the tone for another title-winning campaign.

"I'm very happy with our start of the league, because we know it's difficult when we have a short pre-season before starting the league," said Sales.

"At the same time, things may not be as nice but we've proven this is the right way and I think it's been a nice start, and of course we need to still improve and show more.

"The first [game] against Chippa, we could have been better, but I think in the first one we were a little bit anxious, and then the second one we approached the right way against AmaZulu – we could win the game in the proper way."

RESULTS: Sekhukhune remain perfect, TS Galaxy and Polokwane get first wins

Looking ahead to the next clash, the 23-year-old did not want to lay out The Brazilians' plans, but vowed to give their best to ensure they continue improving and claim victory.

"I think now we go against Magesi, it's difficult to talk before the game, but I think we'll give our best and try to score goals, and ultimately win the match," he asserted.
