The Premier League side dominated their League One opponents from start to finish at the Etihad Stadium, with Semenyo also bagging an assist.
Max Alleyne (12'), Rodri (24'), Jake Doyle-Hayes (42' OG), Jack Fitzwater (45+2 OG), Rico Lewis (49', 90+1, Semenyo (54'), Tijani Reijnders (71'), Nico O'Reilly (79') and Ryan McAidoo (86') all netted for the Citizens.
Taking into account the level of the lower league opposition, Lijnders felt that Semenyo, who was named man of the match, impressed in his first performance and expects the player to settle in well, following his move from Bournemouth last week.
"I think a lot of good performances today," said Lijnders, who took charge of the side with manager Pep Guardiola serving a one-game touchline ban for receiving three yellow cards.
"A lot of good individual performances. I think when the team plays like that it becomes easier for the individual, but Antoine is settling well", the coach added.
"He is a humble guy and we have followed him for a long time, but he brings something to the frontline - what we really want and what we need.
"He can attack quick, he wants to chase, he is a guy who doesn't stop. I think you see today that he can adapt quite quickly to our style. It's nice to have him with us."
