Alvaro Arbeloa wary of Getafe threat as Real Madrid chase vital home win

Alvaro Arbeloa has insisted his side are "very eager and focused" as Real Madrid prepare to host Getafe CF in La Liga tonight, warning that Jose Bordalas' team would pose a serious test at the Bernabeu.

Speaking at Ciudad Real Madrid, Arbeloa made it clear his players understood the challenge ahead.

"We are very eager, focused, and aware of the difficulty of the opponent," he said. "Getafe are a very well-organised team with a coach who always brings out the best in his players. They are always tough to face."

He highlighted the work of Jose Bordalas, adding: "Any coach facing him knows what to expect. Even without much possession, his teams defend very well. They can defend deep and also press high. They are extremely competitive."

Arbeloa also addressed the fitness of Kylian Mbappe, confirming the forward was being managed carefully.

"We want him to fully recover so he can return at 100 percent," he explained. "We will take it day by day. It is better not to set deadlines. When he feels completely recovered and confident, he will come back."

The coach praised Vinicius Junior, saying his role was simply to create the right conditions for the winger to shine.

"He is a decisive and fundamental player. My job is to help create situations where he can exploit his qualities - one against one, running into space, attacking defenders."

Arbeloa was equally pleased to welcome back Rodrygo from injury.

"He can be fundamental and decisive. He gives us control, vision and finishing across the front line. He is very complete and difficult to defend."

Arbeloa confirmed young midfielder Thiago Pitarch had earned his opportunities through personality and hard work, while also looking ahead to a heavyweight UEFA Champions League tie against Manchester City.

"It will be an exciting duel between two great clubs," he said. "But first, our focus is Getafe. The best way to prepare for anything is to perform at the highest level in every match."

Madrid's message was clear: no distractions, full focus, and three points firmly in their sights.
