Alonso heaps praise on new Chelsea star Morgan Rogers

Attacking midfielder Rogers scored his fourth goal for the Blues since his huge summer move from Aston Villa, having also already provided four assists.

Spanish head coach Alonso opened up on the winger's start to life at Stamford Bridge, praising his qualities and adaptation to his new club despite featuring heavily in the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup.

"No, [his form isn't a surprise] because he is young, heâ™s fresh, heâ™s strong and heâ™s quick, said Alonso at the post-match conference.

"He is a very complete modern football player. His availability is also very high, and this is very important. He looks fresh and he is enjoying [his football] because he's a great guy and is connecting very well with his team-mates, and with everyone.

"He is having a great impact on the team and the club."

The latest result sees Chelsea move up to fifth spot on the Premier League table, ending a three-match winless run after losses to Arsenal and Brentford and a 2-2 draw against Burnley.
