Alexis Mac Allister's father dismisses Real Madrid rumours as Liverpool future remains unchanged

Alexis Mac Allister's father Carlos has moved to end speculation linking the Liverpool midfielder with a transfer to Real Madrid, insisting there have been no talks with the Spanish giants.

Rumours emerged following Argentina's run to the World Cup final, with reports suggesting the 27-year-old had indicated to international team-mates that he could leave Liverpool. Spanish outlet Defensa Central also claimed that Mac Allister and his representatives had offered his services to Real Madrid.

However, Carlos strongly rejected those claims, confirming that neither he nor his son's representatives had held discussions with officials from the La Liga club.

"We have not spoken with any official at Real Madrid," he told 365Scores. "What is being circulated about us holding talks with Real Madrid is not true.

"Mac Allister is still under contract for two seasons at Liverpool. Currently, he will get some rest for a few days, and then return to play in the Premier League, and that is the current situation."

The midfielder is expected to enjoy a short break after Argentina's 1-0 defeat to Spain in the World Cup final before returning to Merseyside ahead of the new season.

Mac Allister has been a key figure for Liverpool since joining from Brighton in 2023, playing an important role in the club's recent success. Despite the transfer speculation, his father reiterated that the player remains committed to continuing his career at Anfield.

This is not the first time Carlos Mac Allister has had to address links between his son and Real Madrid. Similar speculation emerged in 2025 after Alexis suggested he could potentially see himself playing in Spain one day because of the country's similarities to Argentina.

At the time, his father also moved quickly to dismiss the possibility, stating: "Alexis is very happy where he is."

Real Madrid have been active in the transfer market, adding several high-profile names, but there has been no indication of an approach for Mac Allister.

The Argentina international was among the players who returned to Buenos Aires after the World Cup final, while others headed back to their clubs or began their holidays elsewhere. He is now expected to focus on rest before linking up with Liverpool ahead of the Premier League campaign.
