Stellenbosch FC have offloaded striker Judas Moseamedi ahead of the resumption of the Premier Soccer League later this month, SABC Sport understands.

The former Maritzburg United forward joined coach Steve Barker’s outfit last year and was a regular – featuring in 26 matches from all competitions  – although his goal return of only six goals was not much of a highlight.

Moseamedi is well travelled, and now that he is a free agent the player will yet again begin his journey to search for another club.

The 28-year-old has been on the books of the now-defunct Free State Stars as well as Cape Town City, where his contribution was notable.

According to information gathered by SABC Sport, Moseamedi is deemed surplus to requirements at Stellies this season.

Before being released, the striker had not managed to break into the starting line-up, as he was used as a substitute in six games to date.

He had not scored a single goal.

It’s not clear yet whether Stellies will go into the transfer market to bring in a replacement, but they do have a chance to do so given the registration window will re-open next month for four weeks.

SABC Sport reported last week that the team from the Winelands agreed on a deal with Maritzburg to sell their captain Mogamad De Goede in the middle of the season after the defender was offered a three-year contract by the Team of Choice.
