Sharks CEO on Springboks Rugby World Cup Squad

Sharks CEO Dr Eduard Coetzee expects more players from the club to be included in the Springboks World Cup squad which will be announced next Tuesday.

The Boks are set to unveil the squad for the IRB World Cup tomorrow to begin preparations for defending the Webb Ellis trophy in France.

Speaking to SABC Sport at their new sponsorship announcement with Hollywoodbets at the Kings Park Stadium Dr Coetzee revealed some of his expectations from next week's squad announcement.

"We would like to have some players but not too many. It seems like there might be eight or nine. Which is something good for the Sharks and players," Coetzee

"Even though we will suffer in some competitions without them, however it a great thing to have representatives at the World Cup to make sure the Springboks are strong and do well in France."

Recently, the Sharks have transformed to become one of the most trusted franchises in the world. Signing top international players, mostly playing for the national team.

This weekend will see Bongi Mbonambi captaining the Springboks against Argentina. The CEO beams with pride as their dream to be amongst the top feeders of national teams comes true. He further hopes his players can contribute in defending the RWC later this year.

"This week we have Bongi Mbonambi, Sharks player, as a captain for Springboks. We play a huge role in transforming the national team, as a franchise, this is also our aim. We hope the Boks will win and defend the trophy"

The Sharks will now have Hollywoodbets as their title sponsor, replacing CELL C. As they will feature prominently on the front and back of the team's jersey in all competitions as of October.
