Sharks bounce back with thumping Challenge Cup win over Section Paloise

Springbok stars Lukhanyo Am and Eben Etzebeth each scored two tries as the Sharks powered to a 45-5 win over Section Paloise in the opening round of the Challenge Cup in Durban.

Makazole Mampimpi also crossed the line as the Kings Park faithful were treated to a terricic try-fest from a Sharks side eager to atone for last week's disappointing defeat to the Bulls.

The Sharks outscored their French opponents six tries to one in a one-sided contest that saw the home side lead 24-5 at half-time.

Fly-half Curwin Bosch converted Am's two tries and added a penalty, but missed one on the half-hour that could have given the hosts a more commanding lead at the interval.

He also converted flanker Etzebeth's try on the stroke of half-time, with Pau's only response a 14th-minute try from Gregoire Arfeuil.

Wing Marnus Potgieter crossed one minute into the second half, with Bosch converting once more - and Pau's misery was compounded by Mehdi Tlili's 44th-minute yellow card.

It gave Sharks the space and opportunity to extend their advantage, with wing Makazole Mapimpi grabbing another try to stretch the lead to 40 points.
