Injured Sevu Reece to miss Rugby World Cup

New Zealand flyer Sevu Reece has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury.

The 26-year-old winger has become a regular starter for the All Blacks, where he has crossed the whitewash 15 times in 23 starts. However, in the Crusaders' Super Rugby Pacific clash against the Blues on the weekend, Reece ruptured a knee ligament which now requires surgery.

"Sevu injured his knee and has had scans which have confirmed an ACL rupture and now he will undergo surgery to repair this," read a statement from Crusaders.

"Unfortunately this rules Sevu out of rugby for the rest of 2023."

Speaking to the media on Wednesday coach Scott Robertson said "We really feel for him. He's been incredible for us. It's a big loss."
