Maart’s Chiefs contract details revealed

Kaizer Chiefs have finally signed midfielder Yusuf Maart from Sekhukhune United following protracted negotiants that could have collapsed the deal.

SABC Sport can reveal that the Babina Noko skipper has put pen to paper on a three-year contract and is ready to report for duty under newly appointed coach Arthur Zwane ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Maart joins an already formidable list of players signed by Amakhosi recently in Zitha Kwinika, Ashely Du Preez (both Stellenbosch FC), Siyethemba Sithebe (AmaZulu), Dillan Solomons, Kamohelo Mahlatsi and George Matlou (all Swallows FC).

There will be one or two more added before the close of the transfer window in September, according to information gathered by SABC Sport.

Chiefs™ pursuit of Maart goes as far back as the January transfer window, but it is thought Sekhukhune were reluctant at the time to sell their captain without ample time to find a suitable replacement midway through the campaign.

Amakhosi first tabled an offer understood to be below their rivals™ valuation of the player, which was rejected prior to the Glamour Boys returning with a second bid believed to be around R5-million to try and get the deal over the line.

Indications are that the deal was at one point hanging by a thread, but Chiefs fans can now celebrate the capture of the Bafana Bafana star, who has now been added to Zwane™s youthful side.

It is expected the Soweto giants will announce the signing of Maart imminently.
